TLCA Continues to Giving Back

TLCA raised $3366.95 for the 2017 March of Dimes Campaign. Carmen Crane, TLCA Abilene Principal, serves on the Executive Leadership Team for March of Dimes. She set TLCA's goal this year at $2500.00. Congratulations to TLCA students for surpassing her goal as they continue giving back to their communities.

TLCA High School named one of the Best High Schools in the Nation

San Angelo, TX - The U.S. News and World Report has issued its list of the Best Performing High Schools in the United States for 2017.Texas Leadership Charter Academy High School is among 10 Concho Valley Schools that earned this national ranking and received a bronze medal. Schools are ranked based on their performance on state-academic tests and how well they prepare students for college.
We want to congratulate and recognize our High School teachers and staff on receiving this national award. We were able to achieve this as result of the dedication and passion our teachers have for our students and their education. According to the U.S. News and World Report, Bronze medals were awarded to only 16.8 percent of all high schools in America.

Open Enrollment for all NEW students to TLCA begins April 3rd

Applications for the 2017-2018 school year will be available online beginning April 3, 2017. Paper applications will not be used this year. Online applications can be completed on any computer, tablet, or smartphone with an internet connection. If you do not have access to the internet, you may come in to any TLCA campus and complete an online application with the Campus Registrar.

TLCA Board of Directors approve 2017-2018 School Calendar

TLCA Students will be reporting for school August 14, as Texas Leadership Charter Academy’s Board of Directors approved the 2017-2018 School Calendar.
In developing the calendar, students' time will be calculated in minutes, and teachers are still under a ten-month contract of 187 calendar days.
School districts and charter schools are required to operate for a minimum of 75,600 minutes, including intermissions and recess, according to state mandates.
Highlights from the new calendar include: first day of instruction will be August 14; Students and Staff will have the week of Thanksgiving off November 20-24; Christmas break will be December 22 – January 5 with students returning January 9; last day of class is May 18; spring break will remain aligned with Districts in respective cities, March 12-16 and graduation is set for May 18.

Junior High CAP Cadets Learning to Fly

The CAP cadets at the Junior High campus have been busy learning to fly. We learn aerospace in the classroom but also put our lessons to use in a CAP plane where the students are given lessons from a well trained CAP pilot. What an opportunity for these students!

Congratulations to TLCA HS Caleb Ricks.
Caleb got 2nd chair out of 16 at the state competition in San Antonio. This means that out of all the trumpets in the A, AA, and AAA bands in the state, Caleb is second. Way to represent TLCA Caleb!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THESE TLCA HS EAGLE BAND MEMBERS:
Caleb Ricks - Trumpet Solo received a 1 (qualified for State)
Jaydon Gomez, Tyler Stiles, Gabriel Rangel, and Zach Martinez
Sax Quartet received a 1 (qualified for State)
Tyler Stiles - Sax Solo received a 1 (not memorized)
Alexis Harper - Flute Solo received a 1 (not memorized)
Gabriel Rangel - Sax Solo received a 2 (not memorized)
These students have worked very hard to attain this distinction and
represented TLCA with all the standards this school stands for.
Thanks to Mr. Stewart and Mr. Patterson for their dedication to
the Band Program at TLCA.

Intent to Return/Open Enrollment

Intent to Return notification is underway. Our preferred method of completing the Intent to Return form is accessing this form on your campus’ website. By completing this form online you are either RESERVING your current student’s spot for the 2017-2018 school year, or you are letting us know that your student WILL NOT be returning for the 2017-2018 school year. If you do not have access to the internet, you may request a form in the office of your student’s school. Whichever method you choose for Intent to Return notification, this must be completed by March 3, 2017. You could be forfeiting your student’s spot by not responding to this request.

TLCA High School Student Caleb Ricks Making School History

Congratulations to TLCA High School student Caleb Ricks for making school history.
He is the first student from TLCA to make State in
the ATSSB. He qualified for State by playing trumpet for the Association of Texas Small School Bands. He will attend the
TMEA Convention in San Antonio and play with the other State
Qualifiers in the Honors Band on Feb.11th, accompanied by
Homer Stewart, the TLCA Band Director. This is an fine example of someone who is dedicated and committed to the ideals that we at TLCA, support.
