School Health Advisory Council


Texas Leadership Charter’s (TLCA) School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) is a group of individuals consisting of parents, teachers, school staff, and community leaders who are appointed at a District level to provide advice on coordinated school health programming and its impact on student health and learning.


The SHAC has a variety of roles addressing all components of a comprehensive school health program.


The components include but are not limited to:


  • Health Instruction
  • Health Services
  • Healthy School Environment
  • Physical Education
  • Schooling Counseling
  • Food Service Program
  • Physical Activity Opportunities and Physical Education
  • Integrated School and Community Programs
